What we look for and how to apply
For all of our apprentice & trainee programmes, there's plenty of studying to be done, so you'll need to be willing to continue your learning in an exciting and challenging environment. Rob Hutchings, one of our Construction Directors discusses what we look for in the video above.
Our programmes are open to ambitious people aged 16+ with no upper age limit. We've put a lot into them, and we expect a lot in return, so you must be prepared to commit to hard work and study. Equally important is your potential and personality, because we're looking for the very best talent to develop. So, bearing in mind the studying you'll have to do and responsibility we'll give you, you'll need to be ambitious with plenty of energy and initiative.
Trade Apprentice Programme (Level 2 and 3)
There's a lot of working outside, helping build homes while learning your trade, so you'll need to be good with your hands and happy to work in all weathers. We look for people with a good all-round education, but what's more important is your passion for wanting to learn your trade, coupled with your ability to work with others towards an end goal.
Commercial & Technical Apprentice Programme (Level 3)
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll interact with a wide range of people, so it’s essential that you possess excellent communication skills. You’ll also need the ability to deal effectively with numbers.
We’re looking for hardworking and ambitious educational ‘achievers’ with strong commitment, so you’ll need to have a minimum of five GCSEs (including Maths and English grades A-C). You might also have A-Levels.
Our apprenticeship programmes are run in partnership with CITB, the Construction Industry Training Board. As part of our selection process, in addition to submitting your application with us, you’ll also need to register with CITB.
You can do this any time of year, so if you've not yet registered through CITB, head online to complete the registration form.

Commercial and Technical Trainees (Up to Level 6)
If you've already studied at a higher level than an apprenticeship, you'll join as a trainee. You'll need five GCSEs (A-C grade), plus a higher level qualification such as a BTEC Level 3 in a Construction related subject, such as a HNC, HND or Degree.
Equally important to qualifications is your potential and personality, because you’ll be working with lots of different people; on-site and in offices and you’ll be given a lot of responsibility. You’ll also need to be ambitious with plenty of energy and initiative.
