Group Marketing Manager (Former Undergraduate)
Laura is the Group Marketing Manager. She joined Barratt in 2005 as an undergraduate.
“In 2003 I started my degree at the University of Plymouth doing a Business Studies course. As part of the 4 year course in the 3rd year I took part in a year’s work placement.
I started my placement in Sales as Management Trainee, where I was involved in various tasks such as briefing sales brochures, floorplans and CGI requirements to our creative agency, doing amends, signing off and releasing to printers. I was also involved in updating Barratt and Oakleaf websites; including uploading images and layouts and adding offer information as well as designing mailers and emails to be sent to development databases.
My year’s placement was due to end in June 2006, but it I was asked to stay on until September 2006 until I went back to University. In September I returned back to Plymouth for my final year, but came back to Barratt in holidays to help out.
Before I had even taken my first exam I had signed a contract to return back to Barratt which was great as I was the only person on my course to be in that position. I graduated with a 2:1 BA Business Studies (Hons) in June 2007 and immediately came back to Barratt as a Marketing Coordinator.
In July 2011 I was promoted to Marketing Manager which involved identifying and implementing marketing opportunities to maximise footfall and reservations through events, digital channels, weekly advertising and PR and to ensure that all divisional marketing activity was aligned and adhered to the group branding. As part of that role, I managed costs; optimising value for all marketing activity and sales material, as well as working with the Technical, Commercial and Construction departments and subcontractors to create cost effective and eye-catching show complexes that were delivered on time and in budget.
In February 2014 I was offered a secondment to a Group Support role as Group Marketing Manager to manage the Barratt rebrand for the whole company. The secondment involved managing the rebrand of 164 Barratt branded developments and Head Offices throughout the country including all marketing collateral such as brochures, leaflets etc. as well as all signage and all other branded items".
